Everyone has a story that they tell themselves every day all day long about every area of their life. What stories are you telling yourself right now as you read this? Have you ever thought about what you are thinking about and then thought… “I should be thinking differently.”
You are where you are today because of how you believe, at a subconscious level, you should be. You are right where you believe you should be, and you don’t even realize it. You are right where you are because of how you see yourself conceptually. You have an identity, set of beliefs, on what you expect for your life and what you will tolerate for your life. This goes for every aspect of your life.
This is an example of eight areas of your life. You have a belief and expectation for each one whether you know it or not. Whether you like it or not. If you don’t think you do, then guess what? That is your belief around it. Accept it.
What stories around each area are you telling yourself? At Lift Consulting, we work with individuals and companies to help them identify what stories they are telling themselves and then coach them to get better. We assess, evaluate, and listen to our clients, and then we find out what is most important to them in their lives and work with them to help them get to where they want to go.
From a sales leader or director of business development, think about prospecting or business development with your team. What stories are they telling themselves? What is really important to them? How are you helping them get what they want vs what you want? What motivates them? What really motivates them? It is probably not what you think.
I really enjoy consulting with sales/business development leaders to develop their leadership skills and foster a holistic approach to developing their people. It is a passion of mine to develop people to be more than they think they are capable of being.
